Presentation and Discussion: Pathways, Unity, Pattern, and Repetition
Begin experiments with cut out shapes to develop patterns, pathways, and focal point
Homework: Complete compositions started in class
We'll work on developing pattern and repetition through the process of collage. Following my demonstration, complete three compositions demonstrating different uses of pattern and repetition to develop pathways and focal points.
Be prepared to start working on your final project. Decide this week what specimen you will work with for your final composition.
Use any kind of color or printed paper (newspaper, magazines, construction paper, etc.) to cut and glue in our pattern experiments. You are only cutting shapes out of the paper, not detailed images. We want to cut a series of shapes that can be easily moved around to experiment with pathways, focal points, pattern, and repetition. In other words, you are not cutting images out of the magazines to arrange, just silhouettes of shapes.
